March 28, 2023

Lionel Messi was awarded a life-size statue by the South American Football Federation in Peru and it is to be placed alongside Pele and Maradona.

After winning the World Cup in Qatar against France in December, Messi and Co. are back in South America. It’s been more than 3 months since Argentina’s historic win against France and the Argentinian is still getting praise in a variety of different ways.

This time around, a life-size statue of Lionel Messi was placed at the South American Football museum alongside World Cup-winning legend Maradona and Pele.

The Argentinian squad was also awarded a replica of the world cup as they celebrated with their loyal fans.

If you go down memory lane, the past 24 months of Messi’s international career will be one looked upon with joy. He won the Copa America, the Finalissima trophy, and the World Cup during this period. He also became the second player to score 800 professional goals just behind his counterpart Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although he is just one goal short of completing the century mark for Argentina, he will hopefully get it against Curacao in their upcoming fixture.

After the Tuesday fixture, Messi will return to Parc des Princes to break records in Ligue 1. While his international career can’t get any better, his club adventures will definitely get more exciting once his contract with PSG ends this summer.

It is evident that the World Cup celebrations will not end anytime soon. But Messi has to make the decision to choose his next club.

Where will the Argentinian move next season or will he stay with PSG?
