July 7, 2023

The recent signing of Arda Guler by Real Madrid is generating much buzz on the internet. The bold welcome message from Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid’s forward, adds a further layer of intrigue to this situation.

On July 6, Real Madrid proudly announced their latest addition, Arda Guler, a promising talent acquired from Fenerbahce SK.

The news of this six-year deal was confirmed by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

In addition to the excitement of the €20 million transaction, Real Madrid’s fans were further thrilled by Vinicius’ retweet of the club’s announcement. The forward, showcasing his undeniable wit, captioned it (translated from Spanish) with a seemingly harmless comment,

“One more that chooses the greatest 🤍😍”.

This comment on social media by Vinicius Jr sparked much conversation, with many interpreting it as a dig at Barcelona, a long-standing rival of Real Madrid.

It is important to remember that Barcelona had previously shown interest in both Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes, but both players ultimately chose Real Madrid.

This pattern seems to have repeated itself with the recruitment of Arda Guler.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Fenerbahce over Guler had reportedly been underway for some time, with personal terms already settled for a 2024 summer transfer.

Yet, Real Madrid’s timely intervention led to the young player joining Los Blancos immediately, much to the delight of their fans.

Arda Guler’s Career So Far

Arda Guler, the new rising star of Real Madrid, started his journey with Fenerbahce SK’s youth team in February 2019.

His growth and development have been nothing short of remarkable. In just over two years, Guler climbed the ranks from the youth teams to the U16s, U19s, and eventually, the senior team.

Particularly noteworthy is Guler’s performance for the U19 side, where he bagged 14 goals and 13 assists in just 30 matches, as per Transfermarkt’s records.

These stats on the field led to his senior debut in the 2021-22 campaign, during which he appeared in 16 matches across competitions.

The following season saw Guler play 35 matches, in which he registered six goals and seven assists while aiding his team in lifting the Turkish Cup.

Notably, he has already earned four caps for Turkey, scoring his first international goal in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier against Wales.
