Tottenham wants Luis Enrique to replace Antonio Conte

March 14, 2023

Tottenham has identified former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as the ideal replacement for Antonio Conte, who could leave them at the end of this season.

The Italian has refused to commit to the London side beyond this term as his team underperforms in the league and other competitions.

Spurs were initially keen for Conte to remain, but the Lilywhites have reduced their efforts to keep the Italian at the club and it seems both parties are heading for a divorce at the end of this season.

Spurs will now have to look for another manager in their never-ending quest to end their wait for a new trophy.

The Times reveals that the Lilywhites are interested in Enrique, who most recently managed the Spanish national team at Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He won the league, Champions League, Spanish Cup, European Super Cup and the Club World Cup in 2015 with Barcelona and remains one of the finest managers without a job.

Spurs will hope he can bring success to their team after the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho failed to achieve that.

The report adds that Enrique is eager to return to the touchline and happy to take up the offer if the Lilywhites approach him.
