This Year’s FIFA World Cup Match Schedules

November 12, 2022

Qatar has never played in the FIFA World Cup and yet for the 2022 games, this exciting country will be hosting.

Qatar’s failure to qualify was not due to lack of trying, they have simply never gotten past the qualifying stage. However, because the country is hosting this year, they automatically get a spot in the tournament. You can bet that the World Cup 2022 odds are not in their favor.

Where Is the World Cup Being Held?

All of the matches will take place in stadiums across Qatar. The first-ever match of the tournament will be hosted at Al Bayt Stadium on the 20th of November.

Originally the plan was for the Netherlands to open the games at the Al Thumama Stadium, but this changed in August. Qatar wanted to open the tournament with their own team.

The 2022 World Cup Groupings

32 teams are playing this year, which makes it easy to divide into groups of 4. The 8 groups are labeled with letters and were chosen at random. This means teams in group A were not placed in that category due to skill or location, they were placed due to a randomized computer.

The groups are:

  • Group A: Qatar, Netherlands, Ecuador, Senegal
  • Group B: Iran, USA, Wales, England
  • Group C: Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia
  • Group D: Australia, France, Tunisia, Denmark,
  • Group E: Spain, Germany, Japan, Costa Rica
  • Group F: Morocco, Croatia, Belgium, Canada
