“They Thought They Had Won The League”, Thibaut Courtois’ Dig Post La Liga Title Win

Real Madrid has done it. They have won the La Liga this season and with some style. They beat Espanyol 4-0 with some really fine display of attacking football, with Rodrygo, Marco Asensio, and Karim Benzema on the scoresheet. There were jubilant celebrations after the match, with this being the 35th title, further extending their dominance in this competition. The players were all smiles, celebrating with each other as well as the manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has made a remarkable comeback himself, after a couple of years of mediocrity as Everton manager.

However, in the midst of all this celebration and joy, keeper Thibaut Courtois still had some words to say about their archrivals. He had not forgotten Barcelona and was quick to respond in his interview.

What Did Thibaut Courtois Say After The Match And Real Madrid’s La Liga Win

Post the match, Thibaut Courtois spoke to the reporters, especially about Barcelona, saying, “After the El Clasico, some celebrated like they won the league”, referring to the over-the-top celebrations of Barcelona after a 4-0 win over the Los Blancos.

This comes as a huge dig to the Catalans. They now have their tails well between their legs because what was thought to be a watershed moment in the title race turned out to be a false dawn. Barcelona only flattered to deceive, with losses against lower terms hampering their progress, allowing their bitter rivals to centre to the title. Thibaut Courtois was quick to remind them of it.

This La Liga title also has put Ancelotti in the history books, becoming the only manager to win Titles in the 5 leading leagues of the world. His league title with Real Madrid has added to his collection of league titles in Italy, England, France, and Germany. This is sweet redemption for a man who was considered to be finished as far as management is concerned.

With the Los Blancos still in the semifinals of the Champions League, with them still in the game after a 4-3 defeat to Man City, they will fancy their chances in the game, behind a vociferous Bernabeu.

Congratulations Real Madrid on winning yet another major title!!
