Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has aimed a dig at Barcelona as the Catalans edge towards winning the Spanish league title.
Barca is now the obvious favourite to win the title after opening up a 13-point gap on Real Madrid, but Los Blancos can still win two trophies.
While Barca has had a good season in the league, they have been kicked out of the Champions League and Europe League. Real Madrid also knocked them out of Copa del Rey.
This means Xavi Hernandez’s side can only win the league this term, and they are mostly in action on the weekends, but Madrid has to play in midweek too.
Despite their win against Cadiz this weekend, they are still 10 points behind Barcelona even before the Catalans play and Courtois does not like the comparison of both clubs.
The goalkeeper commented on it after the win and reminded us that his side plays more games than their rivals, meaning they can still win other competitions.
He said via Sports Keeda:
“There is a long distance in points with Barcelona, but we still have the Copa del Rey final and we play during the week. Others only play from Saturday to Saturday.”
Madrid has already lost the league title to Barcelona, and they should focus on winning one competition they know how to win the most, the Champions League.
If they retain their European crown and win the Spanish Cup, this would still be considered a successful season.
