Former Tottenham Hotspurs winger Steven Bergwijn gave an interesting response when asked who he’d prefer, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Steven Bergwijn who now plays for Ajax is a phenomenal athlete. The 25-year-old has played for Europe’s biggest clubs including PSV, Spurs, and now Ajax. The Dutchman has played amongst great footballing athletes including the World Cup winner Lionel Messi and 5 times Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
And unfortunately, he had to taste defeat from both superstars. When he last faced Cristiano Ronaldo in the Premier League, it was the reverse fixture where Ronaldo scored a hattrick against Tottenham Hotspurs to steal the victory for United.
Lionel Messi also reminds Bergwijn of some unpleasant memories as he was defeated every time he faced the Argentine.
In a recent interview, Steven Bergwijn was asked about the obvious question of who he would rather choose among the two GOATS of the game. The Dutchman wasn’t hesitant to voice his opinion as picked PSG star Lionel Messi.
He said that Messi is a natural talent and in fact the best in the world.
“Messi. The amount of natural talent he has, that’s really not normal. He is the best football player in the world.”
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are rumored to face each other in the Saudi Pro league as reports suggest that the Argentine is offered an eye-watering deal which he is finding hard to refuse.
Steven Bergwijn on the hand is having a better spell as the 25-year-old winger had a decent season with Ajax scoring 14 goals and 6 assists in all competitions.
