After years of “suffering” at the hands of his former opponent, Sergio Ramos has finally come to the conclusion that Lionel Messi is the best footballer to ever live.
With the two players winning multiple titles at Real Madrid together, it’s possible that Ramos would have proclaimed Cristiano Ronaldo the best player of all time for many years.
Ramos did at least accept Messi as equal to his then-Bernabeu teammate when he made fun of Antoine Griezmann at one time, but it’s clear the two didn’t get along. The Spanish defender and the then-Barcelona striker frequently fought one another during Clasico matches because they were steadfast defenders of the opposing sides of the rivalry.
The aggressive defender, who was accused of elbowing Messi in the face, was undoubtedly one of the few individuals who could genuinely enrage the Argentine when they were rivals.
The two are currently teammates at PSG, so it was strange to witness them interact on the same team for the first time.
Ramos has certainly spent enough time with Lionel Messi during the course of their 18-month relationship to finally recognize him as the best player in football history.
“There was suffering for several years playing against Messi,” the 36-year-old told PSG TV, ” I am now enjoying him. He is the best player football has ever produced.”
Cristiano Ronaldo will not be happy with his former team-mate’s words, considering he is the arch rival of Lionel Messi.
