SACK HIM NOW, Jamie Carragher urges Tottenham to fire Antonio Conte

March 19, 2023

After Antonio Conte’s extraordinary rant yesterday about his players and employers, Tottenham, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher insists the Italian manager wants to be sacked.

A frustrated Conte went off on his players after their 3-3 draw against Southampton and accused them of being selfish on the pitch and looking for excuses.

He claimed their mentality is why the club has been trophyless in the last decade and insists that they will never achieve anything if they do not change their mindsets.

This is the last thing Spurs needed, and it was not their manager that should criticise how the team plays when he is supposed to be in charge and help the boys hit top form.

Conte has received the club’s support on the transfer market, even though he has refused to sign a new contract, and he cannot say he does not have quality players in his group.

Yet the Italian showed a remarkable lack of respect for his players and threw them under the bus in a critical stage of the season like this, and Carragher insists he is simply asking to be sacked and has urged the Lilywhites to give him what he wants.

He says via The Sun:

“Conte wants to be sacked in this international break.

“Spurs should just put him out of his misery and do it tonight.”

Spurs are already on the lookout for a new manager, and it is clear Conte will almost certainly not be in charge by next season. It will not be a surprise.

Although he is one of the most successful managers in the world, the Italian hardly lasts at any club. He has walked out on several jobs, including at Inter Milan and Juventus, before orchestrating his own sack at Chelsea.
