RUTHLESS Bayern Munich to SACK Julian Nagelsmann

March 24, 2023

Bayern Munich has reportedly agreed to sack their head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The Bavarians have not made any official statement but have decided that the German coach will not continue as Bayern boss beyond this international break.

The Bundesliga giants hired Naglesmann in July 2021 after the young coach enjoyed great success in Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. He oversaw Bayern’s tenth consecutive Bundesliga title win last season and also has two German Super Cups across his tenure. He has won 60 of his 84 games in charge (71.4 per cent) and is considered one of the best coaches in Europe.

However, things have not been very rosy for him and Bayern this season, especially in the Bundesliga, where Bayern currently lie in second position behind Borussia Dortmund after an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen just before the international break.

They have enjoyed success in Europe, with eight consecutive wins in the Champions League while qualifying for the competition’s quarter-finals. However, with the club struggling in the league, club chiefs have agreed to sack the 35-year-old with an announcement expected on Friday, according to reports.

According to to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Nagelsmann’ has not received any direct communication from Bayern’.

“Bayern have scheduled a meeting to officially confirm to Julian Nagelsmann that he has been fired,” he wrote on Twitter.

“German coach, expected at Säbener Straße soon in order to terminate the contract.

“His deal was due to expire in June 2026, but he will leave with immediate effect.”

Meanwhile, when asked if he has heard about rumours of his dismissal, Nagelsmann simply said: ‘Yes’, and when asked if the club has been in contact yet, he responded: ‘No, not yet’.

Also, according to Romano, former Borussia Dortmund boss Romano Thomas Tuchel has been lined up as a quick replacement for Naglesmann. He said contracts between Tuchel and Bayern ‘have been agreed’ and ‘documents are being prepared.

“Bayern decided to act fast for Thomas Tuchel. He was an option for Tottenham and potentially Real Madrid — they did not want to miss out on their favourite candidate,” he tweeted.
