As Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski welcomed one another at the Laureus Sports Awards, fans on social media were ecstatic. They went so far as to assert that the Polish striker is acting as Messi’s agent to entice him back to Barcelona.
After leading Argentina to victory at the FIFA World Cup last year, Messi was selected as the award’s winner for the 2023 competition. Messi plays for Paris Saint-Germain. With seven goals and three assists, he also took home the Golden Ball.
Numerous elite athletes, besides Messi, were nominated. The other nominees included people like Mondo Duplantis, Kylian Mbappe, Max Verstappen, Stephen Curry, and Rafael Nadal.
With that being said, Lionel Messi is nearing the end of his PSG contract but has not yet extended it. Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, predicts that he will leave the dominant Ligue 1 club in the summer.
Fans are enthusiastic by the 35-year-old’s recent encounter with Blaugrana striker Lewandowski because the player has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona.
