- Reports suggest that Manchester United are highly interested in bringing Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford.
- Bayern Munich’s interest in Erling Haaland could play a key role in Lewandowski’s departure from Allainz Arena.
Robert Lewandowski has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. Manchester United is one of the interested clubs in the Polish international. Lewandowski is seriously considering his future at Bayern Munich since his contract expires in 18 months.
The Polish striker recently claimed that he is “open to everything” in terms of his future ambitions, and it is thought that the 33-year-old is aware of Bayern’s interest in Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland. Bayern’s interest in Erling Haaland doesn’t help Robert Lewandowski’s situation with the club.
Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing the Norwegian striker, who would be a natural successor to Lewandowski in Bavaria, according to sources. However, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City are among the teams who have expressed interest in Erling Haaland in the previous months.
If Lewandowski leaves Bayern, his representatives are considering their alternatives, and Manchester United would be interested in signing him if he became available.
After Lewandowski was awarded The Best FIFA Men’s Player earlier this year, Man United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick – who is likely to move upstairs at the end of the season and have a stronger say in deals – confirmed his adoration for the player.
“Robert has been one of the best, if not the best, central strikers in Germany. For sure, in Germany and also in Europe,” Rangnick said. “He scored 41 or 42 goals last season in the German Bundesliga and an additional couple of goals in the Champions League and in the German Cup so he’s an amazing, outstanding player.”
At the moment, Manchester United are desperate to sign a striker who’s hungry for goals and lethal in front of the post. Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to leave Manchester United in the coming months and Robert Lewandowski wouldn’t be a bad replacement for him. Man United are also set to lose Edinson Cavani for free at the end of the season so the club will be lacking in the attacking department. So in this scenario, Robert Lewandowski to United seems very realistic and sources have confirmed Man United’s interest in the Polish striker.
However, United are not the only club interested in the Polish international. Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester City have expressed their interest in Robert Lewandowski. Chelsea is also one club interested in bringing Lewandowski to Premier League.
Bayern Munich, on the other hand, will determine his availability. The German champions must make a significant decision about their best player, and if they can persuade Haaland to follow in Lewandowski’s footsteps from Dortmund to Bayern, which he did in 2014, it may mark the end of his legendary career.
Given Lewandowski’s age, it’s unclear whether Bayern Munich will renew his contract, while Haaland is available via a £70 million release clause ahead of next season. Tough decision to make for the German champions.
