Three Perfect Replacements For Cesar Azpilicueta That Chelsea Need To Consider

Cesar Azpilicueta

The Cesar Azpilicueta Replacements- The problems for Chelsea just don’t seem to end. With the ownership being initially outcasted and the debt that the Londoners are in, players have now started leaving the club one by one. Initially, centre-back Antonio Rudiger agreed on terms to join Real Madrid and now it seems skipper Cesar Azpilicueta is ready to jump ship too. The right-back turned centre-back is said to have agreed on terms to join Barcelona at the end of the current season.

It is also being reported that the Catalan giants are offering him a salary of £11m per season for 2 years. This would be a huge wage package considering the situation that Barcelona is currently in.

However, it seems that the uncertainty surrounding Chelsea was too much for their former skipper. To add to that, since the addition of Thiago Silva to the squad, the Spaniard’s game-time has been way lesser than before.

With that being said, the club will be looking for replacements for Cesar Azpilicueta, so who will be the right fit for the club? We take a look at 3 options who could be the right fit for the system of Tuchel-

1. Sergino Dest

One of the most logical replacements for the club is none other than Barcelona’s flying American, Sergino Dest. While he hasn’t really set the world alight in his time at the club, he is still a quality player, with pace to burn, and the ability to deliver a wicked cross. He will easily fit into the system and culture at the club, and maybe Chelsea could go ahead and initiate a straight swap, with Cesar Azpilicueta going the other way.

2. Tyler Adams

Another player who could easily slot in at that role is RB Leipzig defender Tyler Adams. The American is one of the most versatile players in the side, with his ability to play as a wing-back, central midfield, and centre-back. But it is at right back where he is most comfortable. He has been one of the star performers in an underwhelming season for the Germans and could easily be subject to a big move in the summer.

3. Jeremie Frimpong

If Chelsea manager Tuchel really wants someone who can seamlessly fit into his system, he could look at Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong. His speed and technical ability on the ball has been second to none, and although the young Dutchman is not really renowned for his defensive abilities, he can be moulded into a heck of a player under the guidance of a manager like Tuchel.
