March 25, 2023

After getting his first cap for England since September 2022, Reece James has once again gotten himself injured.

One of the most exciting right back in the world, Reece James’ career has been nothing short of ups and down. He is continuously regarded as the finest right-back England has ever produced.

Even though there is solid competition in the likes of Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander Arnold, and even Wan Bissaka, he has always been the first priority for Gareth Southgate.

And forget being called an emerging talent, we all know Reece James is a class act. He is one of the best right back in Europe if not the best. Yet continuous injuries are killing a promising career.

It is being reported by the FA that the 23-year-old English right-back has returned to Chelsea for the “assessment of an ongoing issue”.

Thanks to Fabrizio Romano, we know that Reece James is in fact injured due to a minor hamstring injury. He is currently out of the England squad for their upcoming group C game against Ukraine.

“Reece James has withdrawn from the England squad and will not feature against Ukraine on Sunday,” A statement issued by the FA.

Although Gareth Southgate hasn’t asked for replacements yet, he still has two right-back options available within the squad. 32-year-old Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier and 32-year-old Man City right-back Kyle Walker.

Kyle Walker usually starts for England and Reece James brings fresh energy in the closing minutes. It seems as if Kieran Trippier will doing that job from now on.

England is currently on top of Group C. They won 2-1 against the defending champions Italy. They are yet to play against the rest of the group that includes North Macedonia, Ukraine, and Malta. Only two can qualify from each group and they will play the Euro that starts in Germany next June.
