Real Madrid flop receives surprise offer from MLS club as he enters the last year of his contract

May 18, 2023

Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has reportedly received an offer from Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit CF Montreal.

The Belgian attacker has one year left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu but is thought to have been placed on the transfer list by Madrid, who want to sell him.

The 32-year-old was a marquee signing when Real Madrid signed him in 2019 from Chelsea for a reported €140 million fee. But he has failed to meet expectations since joining the Spanish giants. His lack of success at the Santiago Bernabeu has been chiefly down to a lack of fitness, with several injuries making him fall out of favour at the La Liga giants.

As such, Los Blancos want to sell him and invest his €23 million a season in wages in other parts of the squad. The La Liga side want to sign Jude Bellingham and a top-quality striker this summer.

However, Hazard does not want to leave as he wants to see out his contract at Madrid, which will expire in June 2024.

Despite this, the two-time Premier League winner has attracted huge interest from MLS side Montreal. This is according to a Spanish publication Marca who claims that Montreal has expressed an interest in luring Hazard away from the Spanish capital.

But, the Canadian club has yet to table an official bid to sign the Lille academy graduate.
