PSG want to sign 30 year old star player that will ‘HELP THEM WIN’ the UEFA Champions League – Reports

March 28, 2023

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is looking to sign Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Thibaut Courtois, the goalie for Real Madrid, may be available to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Ligue 1 powerhouses, according to a report from the Catalan publication El Nacional, think that the Belgian might be crucial to their quest for a UEFA Champions League title.

PSG unhappy with the current goalkeeper

The report adds that the club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is unhappy with current goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

After failing to reach an agreement with his old club AC Milan, Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 and agreed to a five-year contract. The Italian eventually made himself the team’s top choice in goal after initially having trouble competing with Keylor Navas.

While generally speaking, his performances have been strong. However, he has made mistakes in crucial circumstances, particularly in this year’s Champions League Round of 16 match against Bayern Munich.

Keeping that in mind, PSG are looking to get a world class goalkeeper in the form of Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper has had a tough season, struggling with injury after injury.

However, he was a vital part of the Real Madrid squad that won both La Liga and the Champions League last year. He was notably brilliant in the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool, making a host of saves to ensure Los Blancos lifted the trophy.

Will Real Madrid let go of their star goalie?

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is certain that Courtois will remain at the Bernabeu. The 30-year-old has a big €700 million clause in his contract and is committed to the La Liga giants through the summer of 2026. According to reports, the goalkeeper is content with his situation in Spain.
