Paris Saint Germain forward Lionel Messi has reportedly told Barcelona that he wants his former teammate Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets to stay at the club.
Lionel Messi will leave PSG this summer as the Argentine and his family isn’t comfortable in France anymore. Booed from the crowd and an unhealthy environment have all been reported by French media.
On the other hand, Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s PSG is doing everything to keep Messi for one more year. The French club has offered the star a one-year extension which reportedly he has rejected.
With their own FFP issues, it is likely that PSG will not break the bank in order to convince Messi.
Barcelona however is open for conversation. The Spanish club where Lionel Messi spent 21 glorious years seems to be the most suitable destination. It is reported that both parties are in active conversations with each other.
As reported by El Nacional, Lionel Messi want Barcelona to keep his friends and former teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets at the club. The Argentine wants the club to extend their contracts to one more year.
Sergio Busquets will leave Barcelona this summer and Jordi Alba has just one year left on his contract. While Basquet is consistent in Xavi’s plans, Jordi Alba is often sidelined and this could result in the 34-year-old switching somewhere else.
But all could change for both Barca legends if Messi pens the deal.
According to several sources, Barcelona is preparing a contract of €25 million, a far cry from the one he used to get when last played for the Spanish giant. But on the bright side, Messi’s return to Barcelona could bring massive sponsorship deals which could help the World Cup winner to demand a wage increase.
