Ousmane Dembele Has Decided His Barcelona Fate; Fans Have Mixed Feelings

May 18, 2022

It seems like the long-standing saga of Ousmane Dembele might finally be coming to a close, after it has emerged that he will be leaving the club as a free agent, with the latest contract offer way less than his expectations. Ousmane Dembele has had a rather ill-fated time at the club, after arriving on a fee of close to £105m.

His career at the Catalan club has seen him stagnate due to a series of niggling injuries, and not really being able to deliver on the potential that saw him become one of the best players in the Bundesliga during his time at Dortmund.

Ousmane Dembele has had another injury-plagued season, but still is leading the La Liga assist charts for the season. He has seen an upturn in his form ever since he was drafted back into the starting line-up, and has finally shown what he’s actually capable of.

What Does The Future Hold For Ousmane Dembele, Where Will He Move Next?

Because of these performances, it was reported that Ousmane Dembele won over the manager, Xavi, who has urged Barca to tie him down to a long-term extension, which will see him become one of the key members of this new-look Barcelona squad. But according to club President Joan Laporta, he is not yet committed to the extension because he is tempted by a host of other factors. It has been revealed that Paris St German and Bayern Munich have been closely monitoring his situation, and are ready to pounce the moment this situation is clear.

Both club and player will have much more clarity on the situation after a final round of talks between them next week when the club delegates are expected to meet Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko. As reported by goal, Laporta has said that their offer has been on the table for a long time, but has been waiting for the player’s representatives to give them their verdict, which will happen next week. He has also gone on to say that both he and the manager like the player, and while they would definitely want him to stay if he does decide to move, they will find an adequate replacement.

If he decides to leave the club, it is expected that Paris will be the favourite to sign him, after it was revealed that Angel Di Maria will be leaving the club, and has already held talks with Italian club Juventus about joining them on a free transfer for next season.

Will Barcelona be able to keep hold of Ousmane Dembele, or will he leave the Catalan giants in search of new pastures and new challenges? It all depends on how the talks between the two sides will go on next week.
