The hosts have been around the periphery of the top six but have flattered recently, while the visitors have seen their unfettered run to the title take a big hit in recent games.
So both sides will meet on the Southeastern coast of France, looking to take maximum points that will take them closer to their season’s goal. But who has the better chance of taking maximum points here?
Nice vs PSG Preview
Nice come into this tie on the back of a 1-1 draw with Angers–their fourth draw in the league in a row, leaving them seven points behind fifth-placed Lille. However, they are unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions (W8, D6) and are enjoying a strong showing in 2023.
But they will miss out on the European spots unless they can produce a remarkable turnaround in Ligue 1’s final nine games. They are subsequently unbeaten in home league action since September and won this fixture against league leaders PSG last season, meaning they may have some believe they can open up the title race, for other teams at least.
But Nice fans will still be wary of facing the champions, as that 1-0 win last season is one of just three victories over PSG across the last 24 Ligue 1 H2Hs (D5, L16). But the visitors are currently struggling, having lost three of their last four games in all competitions.
This is even though they are holding a healthy six-point lead atop Ligue 1 ahead of the round. Having been knocked out of the Champions League and Coupe de France, the Parisians can’t afford to let the Ligue 1 title slip too.
However, they have lost three of their last five on the road (W2), so another slip-up isn’t out of the question. Meanwhile, PSG boss Christophe Galtier hasn’t overseen a victory in a personal away H2H against Nice since November 2013 (D3, L4), which casts doubt on whether PSG can avoid a third-straight Ligue 1 defeat for the first time since 2010.
Nice will be without Youcef Atal, Sofiane Diop, Jordan Mvula and Mattie Viti for this game.
While Neymar, Presnel Kkimpemmbe, Marco Verratti and Nordi Mukiele are the only injury absentees ahead of this game.
