Barcelona are reportedly planning to sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and two other Premier League players this summer.
The Egyptian, who only recently signed a new lucrative offer that made him the highest earner in Liverpool’s history, is wanted by Xavi’s side, who, according to a new report, want to sign a top striker of his quality.
Despite playing predominately as a winger, Salah is one of the Premier League’s deadliest marksmen. Since joining Liverpool in 2017 from Roma, the Egyptian has scored 179 goals.
He has won a Premier League and Champions League title with Liverpool and the Premier League Golden Boot thrice. Despite Liverpool’s overall struggles this season has still managed to net 23 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.
He remains a crucial player for Liverpool, and the Reds will be desperate to keep hold of him beyond the end of this season. However, a report by Spanish outlet Catalunya Radio via Sportsbible claims that Barca are keen on signing him and another Liverpool star.
Per the report, Barca boss Xavi wants to sign a ‘top striker who can generate imbalance on the left and fits the idea of the team’s game’. The former Spain international sees Salah as the perfect option to fill the role.
Apart from Salah, Xavi reportedly wants to sign his teammate Luis Diaz, with Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min as another option.
However, Barca’s finances, or lack thereof, will play a big part in determining if the deal will go through. The Catalan club is still struggling to afford big transfers unless they are able to sell some players and generate funds.
