Manchester City have completed their double after beating rival Manchester United by 2-1. Fans brutally trolled the loser on Twitter.
This was the matchup of the heavyweights. Two of the greatest clubs in English football went head to head to win the oldest tournament in the game. Manchester City came into the game in hopes of improving their trophy cabinet and also making the treble hopes possible.
Manchester United was willing to stop them from doing exactly that but they were handed a shock goal in just the first minute of the match. The unmarked Ilkay Gundogan showed his class as he scored a brilliant goal on a volley.
Manchester United despite being threatless was awarded a penalty kick after Jack Grealish’s handball. Bruno Fernandes took it perfectly and leveled the score before halftime.
The second half was quiet like the first one but the only difference was that Manchester United didn’t return the favor. Ilkay Gundogan was again the player who stepped up to give City the lead, making the score 2-1 at 51 minutes.
Manchester United presented a harrowing display after the second goal. They didn’t even try to hold possession and were poor in their attacks. Marcus Rashford, Christian Eriksen, and Jadon Sancho were spinless throughout the 90 minutes.
Manchester City eventually won the Cup and completed their double.
