Man United to ready to spend €150m on this Portuguese player if they miss out on Harry Kane!

March 13, 2023

The blazing form of Milan striker Rafael Leao has attracted attention from European giants like the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. The latest addition to the roster is Manchester United who under the reign of Erik Ten Hag has been rising from the ashes with clinical signings.

Manchester United is in a dire need of a frontman with the pressure of putting balls in the net solely in the hands of Marcus Rashford. With the rebuild showing good signs, the Reds are determined to march toward the next season with a loaded armory.

Rafael Leao has been sensational for Milan this season with 9 goals and ten assists. With his contract expiring in 2024, he has asked for a major wage increase in contract renewal with 7.5 million per season to the 1.8 million which he takes home currently.

The club directors Paolo Maldini and Fredric Massara held discussions with Leao and his family, although no direct contact with his agent had been made. If both parties don’t reach a consensus the Portuguese ace might leave San Siro, giving way to the already circling big clubs.

The rebuilding United desperation strengthens with the idea of coupling Leao and Marcus Rashford who has literally become a machine scoring goals match in and match out, won’t make the club hesitate from shedding the €150 million price tag. With Rafael’s contract expiring next year, it’s expected to bring down the value by a bit but not much. His contract mounts a clause of his former club Lille getting a 20% cut of the proceedings, which is interesting.

Chelsea has also been close in pursuit of Rafael Leao despite getting rejected last season, for their new owner Todd Boehly rampaging around Europe for fresh legs for the blues who are witnessing the most lucrative rebuild of modern times.
