Lothar Matthaus insists Bayern should NOT FEAR in-form Haaland

March 19, 2023

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has urged the Bavarians not to be afraid of Erling Haaland as they prepare to face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

City-Bayern is the biggest match of that round, and one man to watch is the Premier League side’s goal machine, Haaland.

The Norwegian played in Germany for Bayern’s rivals Borussia Dortmund before moving to England, and they even attempted to add him to their squad before he chose the English champions.

Haaland has bagged consecutive hattricks in his last two matches and scored five against RB Leipzig in the last round of the Champions League.

This makes him easily the most dangerous striker in the world, and he can fire City to win the UCL after so many years of hurt and near misses.

However, they must overcome a very resolute Bayern side that knocked PSG out of the competition in the last round, and the German side’s fans will be worried about Haaland.

Matthaus admits City is having a great season but says they have faced Haaland in the past and shouldn’t be too worried about him in the games.

He said to Sky Germany: ‘Manchester City is in a very good mood.

‘Haaland played against Bayern more often and scored less. You don’t need to be afraid of him.’

No fan wants his club to play against Haaland at the moment in the mood he is in, so Bayern will definitely be worried about the Norwegian.

However, they are also one of the strongest sides left in the competition and will give City a very good game.
