Lionel Messi Scores Stunning Goal In PSG Vs Lens As The Goal Seals The Ligue 1 Title

The Argentinian forward Lionel Messi marked a title-winning night for Paris Saint Germain with an absolute stunner of a goal against Lens.

After making a move to Ligue 1, Messi was expected to be a match winner and break all sorts of goal scoring records. Everyone thought that the Argentinian forward was moving into an easier league termed as ‘Farmer’s League’.

However, it turned out to be the worst league season for Lionel Messi as far as scoring goals goes. He had scored only three goals in Ligue 1 ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Lens. Despite drawing lots of criticism from fans and pundits all over the world, it seemed that Messi was doing his job. The forward had transitioned from a higher position at Barcelona to playing deep in the midfield for PSG.

The game against Lens was a very frustrating game for the PSG forwards. It took them 68 minutes to break the deadlock. And the goal was definitely worth the wait. The seven time Balon d’Or winner Lionel Messi smashed home a brilliant finish from outside of the box, which left the whole Parc des Princes in amazement.

Even Sergio Ramos could not believe his eyes and rushed over to celebrate with the rest of the team.

Paris Saint Germain required just a draw tonight against Lens to win the Ligue 1 title. And Messi’s goal made sure that PSG won the title despite a late equalizer from Lens. PSG will qualify to compete in the Champions League next year, which PSG has been hunting for many years. PSG has offered Mbappe a mega-contract to entice him to stay at the club next season. They are hoping the trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe can bring the Champions League trophy to the club.

PSG Title Celebration

Even though the team did not win their game against Lens they still went on to celebrate winning the Ligue 1 title for 2022. The video shows PSG players in the dressing room after the match celebrating and spraying champagne. Lionel Messi looked happy to be scoring the winning goal to secure the title and was seen celebrating with Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe.
