In what was a highly anticipated Champions League clash between Paris Saint Germain and Bayern, Lionel Messi and co. got knocked out of the UEFA Champions League.
The Argentinian forward did not perform according to his high standards and the expectation of the fans. Messi found it really hard to influence the game and had to drop deep into his own half to even get the ball. He was hardly seen on the ball as the French champions found it hard to create solid chances.
Any space Lionel Messi found, he tried to direct shots towards the goal, but the Bayern defense blocked all his shots. The defenders read the game well, and gave Messi no space at all to create any sort of magical moments.
His poor performance was noted by football fans and they wasted no time to express their frustration on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Paris Saint-Germain was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 on Wednesday as Bayern Munich defeated them at the Allianz Arena. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored in the second half, and Serge Gnabry added a goal in stoppage time to give Julian Naglesmann’s team a 2-0 triumph.
This means that PSG’s star-studded team, which includes Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, will have to wait another year for a shot at continental glory.
