Lionel Messi, who is a target for Barcelona, reportedly informed his Argentina teammates that he plans to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Given that the 35-year-old contract’s at the Parc des Princes expires in three months, his future after this season has been a heavily debated subject. According to the Daily Mail, he has held initial discussions over a new deal at PSG, who have put an offer on the table.

Jorge Messi, Messi’s father, is also talking about the new contract proposed by the Parisians. Recent months have seen rumors of Messi’s return to Barcelona, who are reportedly looking for ways to pay for his possibly enormous contract. The Argentine currently makes £740,000 a week at the French capital.

Lionel Messi seems interested to watch how PSG’s new project turns out this summer, with anticipated changes to the organizational structure. With the French club owned by Qatar, sporting director Luis Campos and manager Christophe Galtier’s futures are up in the air.
