Lionel Messi has REQUESTED Barcelona to sign 2 Argentina teammates if he will return to Camp Nou – Reports

May 27, 2023

Ahead of a probable return, Lionel Messi has reportedly asked Barcelona to sign fellow Argentina teammates Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes.

El Nacional reports that Xavi is eager to sign Messi, 35, when he becomes a free agent in the summer. The Argentine legend’s deal with PSG is up, and he has chosen against renewing it.

Their efforts to capture Lionel Messi, however, have recently run into trouble as a result of the announced departures of his close friends. This summer, Camp Nou will lose Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. So, Di Maria, 35, and Paredes, 28, who both won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, are now being asked to sign with Barcelona.

When his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, Di Maria will leave Juventus. The former winger for Real Madrid has chosen to leave the Allianz Stadium. Despite having injury concerns, he has been in excellent form, scoring eight goals and dishing out seven assists in 38 games across all competitions.

But his decision to quit Juventus was partially influenced by the fact that the team won’t play in the Champions League next year. They now hold the seventh spot in Serie A after receiving a recent 10-point deduction.

Paredes, meanwhile, spent the entire year on loan with the Old Lady from PSG. In 33 appearances across different tournaments, he has one goal and one assist. The Argentine midfielder has made up his mind that he will no longer play for Massimiliano Allegri’s team. Additionally, he doesn’t want to go back to Parc des Princes because Lionel Messi won’t be there. He might be seen as a Busquets replacement by Barcelona
