Argentina players and supporters were heard chanting “France are dead” during their celebration on Thursday night, including Lionel Messi. It was their first game since winning the World Cup the previous year, and they were playing in front of their own supporters.
The South American side won the FIFA World Cup last year by beating France in the final. They were leading 2-0 in the match, but a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe saw the game taken to a penalty shootout, where Argentina won 4-2.
Argentina’s players celebrated their World Cup victory in front of their supporters after their victory over Panama on Thursday. Unexpectedly, Lionel Messi and company were heard singing, along with the fans:
“A minute of silence for… France, they are dead.”

This clip has since then gone viral. It is more than likely that Lionel Messi’s PSG team-mates will find this clip and certainly wont be amused. As for the PSG fans, they have one more reason to jeer the next time the Argentinian captain is in France.
After the celebrations, Lionel Messi then spoke to the crowd and said: “I always dreamed of this moment and to celebrate with you. With my country, Argentina. I don’t want to forget all the teammates I had before because we also did everything possible to get it. Let’s enjoy the third star.”
