According to reports Leeds striker Wilfried Gnonto is being pursued by three English teams for a potential transfer in the upcoming summer window. The teams include Chelsea, Arsenal, and current champions Manchester City.
Italian news source Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that many big clubs are interested in Wilfried Gnonto, the 19-year-old Italian player from Leeds United, particularly if his club gets relegated from the Premier League by the end of the season. Gnonto had joined Leeds United from FC Zurich in Switzerland in the previous summer and made an impact. He has already played in eight matches for the Italian national team. Gnonto has played in 20 matches this season for Leeds United and has scored four goals and assisted three times. On Sunday, he assisted in a crucial match where Javi Gracia’s team secured a 3-2 victory against the Wolves.
Despite Leeds United’s current struggle toward the bottom of the Premier League, Wilfried Gnonto has emerged as one of their prominent players this season. The 19-year-old has played mainly as a winger and has scored four goals and provided three assists in his first 20 appearances for the team. He has also become a regular player for the Italian national team.
Although other clubs across Europe are showing interest in Gnonto, it is believed that his former club, Inter Milan, is not among those who are in the race to acquire his services. That may come as surprise given the player had spent eight years in San Siro before signing for Zurich in 2020.
Arsenal is seriously interested in the player and is preparing a bid for him at the end of the current season. It is believed that the young Italian is likely to leave Leeds United if they get relegated from the Premier League.
Wilfried Gnontos’s impressive start to his Premier League career has caught the attention of other clubs in the competition. Of the three clubs in pursuit of the Italian, Chelsea may be the most favorable for Gnonto due to his admiration for their player, Raheem Sterling.
In recent weeks, his playing time has decreased, and Javi Gracia has not considered him an automatic starter in the team. He is yet to start a game under the Spanish coach. Despite this, Gnonto is still considered a highly talented player and has already gained more experience this young than what is typical for players of his age.
