May 29, 2023

After winning Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the 2022–23 season, Kylian Mbappe thanked his Paris Saint–Germain (PSG) colleague Lionel Messi for his efforts.

The club’s star performer during their championship-winning season has been the France international. Mbappe has participated in 33 Ligue 1 games this season, scoring 28 goals and dishing out six assists. On the list of top scorers, he is now one goal ahead of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.

The newly appointed France captain thanked Lionel Messi, his striking partner, specifically for his accomplishments this season.

During his acceptance speech, Kylian Mbappe said:

“Of course, I thank Leo [Messi], who has helped me a lot along with all the players.”

This time around, Lionel Messi himself has had a fantastic season for PSG. In 31 Ligue 1 appearances, he has tallied 16 goals and the same number of assists. The Argentinian captain is currently the top assist holder this season. With just one game left in the season, he comfortably leads Jonathan Clauss (11 assists) of Marseille in second place.
