Kylian Mbappe has offered his view on who he thinks is the best payer in the world.
The Frenchman is seen as the heir to the throne that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have occupied for the last 15 years.
But he is not just the only new name making history right now. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Real Madrid’s duo Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior, and Lionel Messi are star players in their own right.
Haaland, for example, is the clear favourite to win the European Golden Boot this season, with the Norwegian the top scorer in the Premier League and Champions League.
Vinicius Junior is arguably the most important player at Real Madrid right now and is leading the Spanish giants to their 15th UEFA Champions League crown in history.
However, when asked who he thinks is the best player in the world, Mbappe ignored all these names and instead named himself the world’s best player.
In an interview from a year ago that has gone viral, the Frenchman channeled his inner Zlatan Ibrahimovic to declare that he is ahead of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
“In my head, I always tell myself that I am the best because that way, you don’t set limits and try to give the best version of yourself,” he said via Elfutbolero.
“People don’t understand the ego. Well, no one is going to approach you to tell you that you are capable.
“You are alone. You have to convince yourself that you can do great things.”
Mbappe is truly a remarkable player. He has won the Ligue 1 top scorer for the past four seasons. He currently sits at the top of the scoring charts this season and could make it five top-scorer awards in a row.
The Frenchman has also won the World Cup as a teenager and won the top-scorer award in Qatar last year.
