[WATCH] Karim Benzema SCORES to give Real Madrid an early lead vs Chelsea in the UCL Quarter-Final

April 12, 2023

In the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match against Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid has taken the lead.

When Joao Felix was let through on goal, the away team had the better of the first half. However, good defending from Eder Militao negated the opportunity, and Thibaut Courtois made a comfortable save.

Real Madrid finally woke up after that, and after 23 minutes, they scored their first goal. As was predicted, Karim Benzema scored the goal. Beautifully chipped through by Dani Carvajal, Vinicius Jr.’s shot was blocked by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Benzema was there to score into the empty net, which is unfortunate for Chelsea.

Benzema is Real Madrid’s go-to player at crucial moments once more. The 35-year-old has been in fantastic form lately, and his goal against Chelsea was his 26th of a season marred by injuries. In this match, he will be hoping to at least grab one more.
