Karim Benzema offered €400 MILLION to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia

May 31, 2023

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has reportedly received a huge contract offer from Saudi Arabia as the oil-rich country looks to use Frenchman’s star pulling to boost their 2030 World Cup bid.

Benzema has been Real Madrid’s star man for several seasons and has been going strong despite being in his mid 30’s. He has scored 30 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this season.

However, despite enjoying a strong season at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Frenchman is reportedly becoming increasingly uneasy at the Spanish capital.

Moreover, within his contract is an unwritten ‘Ballon d’Or clause’, which extends his contract at the Spanish capital by a year. That contract extension was triggered when he was awarded the coveted trophy in late 2022. However, the Frenchman has yet to publicly commit his future to the club despite being in the final weeks of his current deal.

And now, according to Spanish publication AS, Benzema has been offered a mega-money contract by a Saudi Arabian club, who are looking to use his popularity to strengthen the nation’s 2030 World Cup hopes.

The contract offered to the 35-year-old is said to exceed €400 million over two seasons and would involve him being paid as an ambassador for the World Cup bid in the future.

Having already signed Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo last year, Saudi Arabia hopes that Benzema’s signing will improve their image as they go toe-to-toe with Spain, Portugal, Ukraine and Morocco in the bid for hosting rights in 2030. Votes will be cast in September 2024 for the 2030 event.
