Karim Benzema HAT TRICK sends Real Madrid to Copa del Rey final

April 5, 2023

Karim Benzema became the first Real Madrid player to score a hat trick at Camp Nou since Ferenc Puskás in 1963 as he tore Barcelona apart to send Madrid to the final of the Copa del Rey this evening.

The Blaugranas were leading from the first leg of the game after securing a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu, and most fans expected Xavi Hernandez’s side to earn another win at home.

However, Benzema had other plans and ensured Barca got the bitter test of his devastating best in the fixture.

Vinicius Junior gave Madrid the lead in the first half after Xavi, Sergi Roberto, and Gavi had all received yellow cards for Barcelona.

The Catalans had started and ended the first half in frustration, and their fans would have expected them to return after the interval in a much better fashion.

However, Benzema also had plans for a record-breaking night and the Frenchman scored Madrid’s second five minutes into the half.

Modric made a surging run and passed to him on the edge of the penalty box, and Benzema finished cooly. The Frenchman then scored his second from the penalty spot as Barca struggled to get into the game against a dominant Madrid side.

Despite making three changes after Benzema’s second and Madrid’s third goal, Xavi’s men needed help to get into the game and find a way past the solid Madrid side.

Instead, Madrid launched a successful counter-attack where Benzema scored his hattrick, thanks to some fine work from Vinicius Junior.
