According to some reports, it seems that Lionel Messi could join his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo in playing for a Saudi Club. Al-Ittihad, a club in the Saudi league has apparently expressed their desire to buy the Argentine magician.
Al-Ittihad, one of the top teams in Saudi Arabia, is presently ranked second in the SPL standings, only behind Al-Nassr headed by Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo signed a massive contract and went to Al-Nassr earlier this year. He has since made an immediate impact with his new team.
In an effort to compete with Al-rising Nassr’s fan numbers after they recruited Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Ittihad reportedly offered Messi a massive $187 million deal over the course of two years in order to lure the World Cup champion to sign for them.
It has been reported that Lionel Messi is searching for a new challenge after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar, and as a result, talks between the player and club have been severely delayed over the past month. Messi’s current contract with PSG expires in the summer.
Fans will be very interested in any developments about this transfer rumour since, if Messi chooses to sign with Al-Ittihad, it may result in a thrilling final match between two of the greatest players in history, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, fans of Messi believe that these are just rumours and Messi will stay in Europe.
One wrote on twitter: “He’s not like Ronaldo. He ain’t joining that league. He has got pride”
