Inter Miami owner David Beckham poses with Lionel Messi amid rumours of MLS move

April 27, 2023

Inter Miami owner David Beckham has sparked speculation that his club are about to snap up Lionel Messi by visiting the Argentina legend at Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi‘s contract at PSG will be up by June, and speculations have linked him to a move away from Paris this summer. A return to Barcelona is on the front burner, while links to Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer have also been discussed.

Among the clubs most keen on Messi in the MLS is Inter Mimi, owned by former Manchester United and Real Madrid player Beckham. The former PSG attacker wants to make the club a global brand and is keen to bring Messi and his family stateside.

He recently visited PSG’s training ground and posted pictures of himself with several of the club’s players, including Kylian Mbappe, Sergio Ramos and Messi, himself, who his club are keen on signing.

“Ici C’est Paris. Great to see some old friends at PSG. (Lionel Messi, Marco Veratti, Mbappe, Ramos),” the Englishman wrote on his Instagram story.

Beckham retired from professional football at the Parc des Princes, so the visit is not unusual.

However, given the peculiar circumstance, his visit adds to the speculation over Messi’s future.

Meanwhile, a recent report by the British paper, The Independent claimed that the Herons were willing to offer the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner an equity stake in the club to join in the summer.
