Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has offered his opinion in the eternal Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate.
The two greats are arguably the best players in their generation and have often been the subject of fierce debates between their supporters. While some argue that Ronaldo is ahead of Messi because of his sheer physical prowess and eye for goal, others place the Argentine ahead of the Portuguese star due to his natural talent, dribbling skills and all-round game.
While the opinion of who is better differs from man to man, there is no denying that the duo are two of the greatest players ever to grace the sport. They have won 12 Ballon d’Or trophies combined, while winning almost every club and country trophy.
But who does Bellingham think is better between both players?
According to Bellingham, Messi is ahead of Ronaldo in the GOAT debate. The Borussia Dortmund teenager believes that the 35-year-old Argentine does things impossible for ‘humans’ to do, putting him ahead of Ronaldo.
When quizzed about his pick between the duo, Bellingham initially mentioned Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah’s name. But he then went on to explain why he prefers Messi over Ronaldo.
“Messi for me. He has a good mix of numbers and the watch factor,” the midfield sensation said.
“You just watch him and think ‘, How does he do that?’ Every time I watch him, he does something, and I think ‘, He can’t be human.'”.
Messi plays for Paris Saint-Germain but could leave Paris this summer, given that his contract with the club will be up in the summer.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo signed for Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al-Nassr in December. He has scored nine goals and has provided two assists in ten games since joining the club as a free agent when his Manchester United contract was mutually terminated last year.
