While Spain’s national team was presenting the Nations League trophy in the nation’s capital, Real Madrid supporters engaged in some despicable misbehavior.
On Monday, the Spanish national team had a parade to commemorate their victory, and Gavi, the 18 year old, gave a speech to address the crowd.
But as he addressed the audience, opposition supporters heckled him and yelled “p*ta” (which is Spanish for “whore”) Barca.
He looked visibly flustered while former Barcelona team-mate Jordi Alba cut a shocked figure as he watched on from behind.
Fans react to vile chants at Gavi
Fans were quick to react on social media and defend Gavi from the class-less Real Madrid supporters.
One Twitter user wrote: “They hate Barcelona more than they love their club.”
A second tweeted: “Sad people man, actually pathetic.”
A third added: “What is Spain without La Masia?”
A fourth said: “Peaks of ugly behavior. Torturing an 18 year old kid during your own national team’s success.”
Another commented: “An 18 year old, imagine that. People forget he’s just a kid.”
