Speaking to Prime Video, which is in the works of releasing a documentary on the background of Argentina’s victorious run to last year’s Copa America, Martinez says, “He was giving a speech to everyone about this is going to be his last one, so he will be giving it his all”, and he recalls that after that, he felt “little shivers” when he heard the great man talking.

He also went on to add, “Everyone shuts up when he is speaking. They are all like that: Whoever they may be. The manager, President of Argentina, or whoever it may be. They just shut up and listen”.

I mean, who would bother to even utter a word when you are in the midst of greatness, and especially when that guy is speaking. You’d want to listen to every word that comes out of him, no matter who you are. So it’s not really a surprise when Martinez says that everyone listens when Messi speaks.

Argentina won the Copa America after beating Brazil 1-0 in the final, which was Messi’s first international trophy. He went on to double his trophy tally on an international scale by winning the Finalissima against Italy in Wembley, beating the Azzurri 3-0.
