A year ahead of schedule, Eden Hazard will leave the Spanish powerhouses at the end of this month.
After his expensive transfer from Chelsea in 2019, he signed a five-year initial contract with the team that would last until 2024.
But he hasn’t been able to duplicate his Premier League form in La Liga, and Real Madrid have decided to cut ties with the attacker before the next campaign.
Following his dreadful, injury-plagued stint in Spain, there have been some rumors that Eden Hazard would give up on the sport. Speaking about these rumors, the Belgian forward had the following to say:
“It is true that, in the last few days, I have read a lot about myself. And a lot of nonsense.”
Asked about rumours linking him to play alongside his younger brother Kylian at RWDM, he replied: “I don’t know if it’s stupid, we’ll see… I know I’m not giving the answers that are expected but it’s because, honestly, I still don’t have them.
“Having said that, I can assure you that I am still capable of being a professional footballer, my body can handle it. Also, I’ve been resting for three years…”
Eden Hazard added: “Honestly, I still don’t know. After these three complicated years, I just want to spend time with my family, go on holiday like everyone else.”
