Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard has opened up on his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti and admits he and his manager do not talk to each other much, but there is mutual respect among them.
The Belgian has been struggling since he moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid for around 100m euros and has hardly gotten playing chances this season.
Injuries have ravaged his spell in the Spanish capital, but the Chelsea hero is not prepared to walk away from his £470,000 per week deal and seems content to stay on the bench and continue earning the bumper pay.
Madrid has not attempted to force him out, but one clear thing is that the Belgian isn’t Ancelotti’s favourite, and the Italian fancies other forwards over the former Lille man.
The likes of Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior have played more and have continued to deliver on the field for the Spanish giants, this means Madrid has not missed Hazard’s inputs.
Speaking about his relationship with his manager recently, Hazard said to the Belgian outlet RTBF:
‘There is respect between us.
‘But I’m not going to say that we talk to each other because we don’t talk to each other.
‘But there will always be respect. Even if tomorrow, he doesn’t make me play anymore.
‘I have to have respect for a guy like Carlo Ancelotti. What he represents for football, what he has done in his career, there is no problem.’
Ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool this week, Ancelotti was informed about the attacker’s comments, he replied: ‘Hazard has been very honest, we don’t talk much because it could be a matter of character.
‘The most important thing for me, that if we don’t talk much, he follows me respecting.
‘It’s the most important thing, just like I respect him.
‘He doesn’t play because he has a lot of competition and a player in his position who is playing very well, which is Vinicius.’
