Eden Hazard could make his first start in SEVEN MONTHS as Carlo Ancelotti targets resting Real Madrid players

Eden Hazard could return to the Real Madrid starting lineup this weekend for the first time since the beginning of September as Carlo Ancelotti admits he will rest players.

Real Madrid faces Getafe this weekend after a tough game against Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek as they bid to retain their European crown.

The Spanish side must win in Manchester next week to reach the final of the competition, and this will make them rest several players for the Getafe game.

Barcelona is set to win La Liga and Madrid will target the Champions League, which is why they are not looking to stress any key player for the Getafe match.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Ancelotti admitted:

“I want to preserve the players who are tired, but the ones who are well will go out on the pitch,” Ancelotti told reporters. “Some players received hits in Tuesday’s game and they still haven’t recovered, like Benzema, Alaba and Rodrygo.”

With Benzema and Rodrygo set to be rested, Hazard will get another chance to start a game after refusing to consider leaving the club for more game time.

The Belgian could be joined in the starting XI by the similarly out-of-favour Mariano Diaz as the backups get their chances to shine for the European champions.
