Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Premier League Player Of The Month Award Despite Manchester United’s Abyssmal Form

May 13, 2022

In a season of mediocrity, incompetence, and perpetual gloom for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to remain that one bright light for the Red Devils. The Premier League recently announced that he was the winner of the Premier League player of the month for April. This is the 6th time that he has won the award in Man Utd colours, crossing Wayne Rooney’s 5 and becoming the Man Utd player with the most player of the month awards. His goals have also been the reason why the Red Devils were able to qualify in the knockout stages of the Champions League, scoring in all 6 games, with most of them being winners.

In a season where almost the entire squad has regressed spectacularly to the point where even fans have questioned whether the players are actually worth it or not, Cristiano Ronaldo has marched on his way, doing what he normally does, scoring goals and carrying this side on his back through sheer will and force. While he might have not won a single trophy this year, his goals have been the difference between United’s current position in the table and the actual position where they’d be without his goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is doing it for Manchester United despite the team’s poor form

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the scoring charts for the Red Devils, netting 24 goals across all competitions, and 18 in the premier league. While there have been highs, there have been lows as well, like his goal drought which went on for almost two months, or the reactions after being subbed, and the latest being his disbelief in the 4-0 humbling at the hands of Brighton, where he was virtually a spectator in the whole game.

But it still does not hide the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo has had a great season for a team that has had absolutely no creativity, and who has to feed on scraps, making changes on his own. He has also seemed to bring a few youngsters under his wing, like Elanga, or the new sensation Alejandro Garnacho, who he gave the match ball after the Norwich game. Yes, the season as a whole has been poor, but Ronaldo can look upon this as a great season on a personal front.

Cristiano Ronaldo still has a year left on his Manchester United contract, and if reports are to be believed, he is more than happy to stay here for the next season as well. With new manager Erik Ten Hag taking the helm in the summer, Ronaldo is eager to help the club reach the level that they are supposed to be. He is not the type of person who takes rests on his laurels.

A man with the hunger, desire, and appetite to win like Ronaldo is definitely going to be needed in a squad where such characters are in short supply.  Who knows, we could see another level of excellence from the Portuguese under a new manager. The road for Ronaldo ahead might be steep, but he is not the one to shy away from challenges.
