Cristiano Ronaldo’s newborn son passed away yesterday in what was a very sad day for football. The news was announced on a post on the footballer’s Instagram account. The Manchester United striker announced in October 2021 that he was expecting twins with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the announcement read.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Losing a child is a devastating blow for any parent and certainly for one as family orientated as Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar is known for being an amazing father off the pitch. He is always seen with his children when he gets time off from football.
After being raised in poverty from an early age on the island of Madeira, Cristiano Ronaldo has discovered just how important family is to a person. The superstar has embraced fatherhood with open arms, appreciating each and every member of his family.
“I have millions and billions but the most important thing is family,” he said in a recent interview.
“Keep your family healthy and take care of them because this is the most important thing in the world.”
After Ronaldo’s social media announcement, well wishes and condolences for him and his family have poured in from all over the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro replied to the Instagram with a sad-face emoji, while team mate Diogo Dalot replied with a love heart.
Gary Lineker tweeted: “Terribly sad news. Sincere condolences to you and your family.”
