Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha still believes that Cristiano Ronaldo was a right fit for Erik Ten hag’s United.

Louis Saha played for Manchester United during 2004-2008 where he won 2 Premier League titles and one Champions League. He has shared both success and loss with a young Cristiano Ronaldo who was still finding his strides.

Now the 38-year-old Ballon d’Or winner plays for Saudi club Al Nassr which recently lost the league title. Once again, all the blame for their loss has come to Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 14 goals in the league, the highest for the club.

His former teammate Saha has given his opinion amid his current form and fallout with Manchester United. The striker told a publication, that if Cristiano Ronaldo had stayed at United, he could’ve still added 10-15 goals in the season.

“If Cristiano had understood what was required of him and for the squad, to compromise in some way, he could have stayed. He’s a great player, and I still feel frustrated because he could have scored at least 10-15 goals easily this year and helped the team be in a stronger position.”

He continued to entertain the fact that even Ronaldo would’ve wanted that,

“Cristiano is a very proud man, and he would never say this, but deep down he would have preferred to have been scoring goals and winning trophies with Man United. It would have been the better story for him, and better for his legacy, even if he won’t admit it.”

Saha has been a vocal supporter of Cristiano Ronaldo. He praised the forward when he was having a difficult time getting settled at Juventus.

“Cristiano was just an animal, I don’t know if you can say that he was a human! You could see from when he was 18 or 19 that this guy was not normal. These players who have all the ability recognise that it’s also about working harder than anyone – not just talent.”

Saha added: “The top seeds in tennis don’t hit the ball better or have better technique; no, they work harder than anyone, and Cristiano did that.”

Ronaldo has finished his first season at Al Nassr. The World Class striker will now join his international teammates for Portugal’s EURO qualification rounds.
