We all have our own opinion regarding the player who should be on the PRIME list of football’s best XI of all time. For some, it is the obvious Cristiano, Messi, Pele, and Maradona combination. Those who lived in the 90s would surely have a different opinion.
But that’s what makes the game so interesting right?
Recently the people at Score 90 played a little with ChatGPT to find out which players would feature in the squad for the best XI football player of all time. Thankfully, ChatGPT gave an uninterrupted response.
Before we get on with the list, remember, most of the time ChatGPT is ‘high on bytes’. So take it with a grain of salt.
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon
This is a good one. The AI bot chose the magnificent Gianluigi Buffon. The Italian legend has won almost everything the sport has to offer. (Except the Champions League and Ballon d’Or). The former Juventus goalkeeper has aged like fine wine. Still playing to this day at the age of 45.
In the right-back position, we have the rare attacking right-back Cafu. Cafu has the legendary status for helping his country win two World Cups (1994,2002) as well as being the crucial part of the 06-07 Milan defense that won the Champions League.
Centre-back: Franco Baresi
A solid wall that guarded Milan for two decades, Franco Baresi helped Milan win three Champions League, six Serie A titles, and numerous other trophies in his illustrious football career.
Centre-back: Franz Beckenbauer
Franz Beckenbauer is one of the greatest football players of all time. The German was often regarded as the inventor of the ‘modern sweeper’ role as he revolutionized the position for several decades. He is amongst the only three men who won the World Cup both as a player and as well a manager.
Left-back: Paolo Maldini
The devil in front of goal Paolo Maldini was a class act. A player who was a nightmare for whoever he got drawn against in the Champions League. Whether it was an English, Spanish, French, or even an Italian club. Paolo made his father and ancestor proud, who always chose Milan over anything else.
Midfield: Zinedine Zidane
If there is one player that can completely transform a team into something beautiful, it’s Zinedine Zidane. A midfielder who knows how to control the ball better than anyone. Zidane was a tactical genius both on the pitch and later in his managerial roles.
Midfield: Diego Maradona
At the heart of the team, we have the electric Maradona. The two-time World Cup winner had a prolific career both internationally and at the club level with Napoli.
Midfield: Johan Cruyff
The Einstien of Modern football. Johan Cryuff is a legend of the game that not only played but understood it. The Dutch international won the Ballon d’Or on three different occasions.
Right-forward: Lionel Messi
Leo, the magician, La Pulga, and Messidona are all names taken by Lionel Messi. A footballing miracle who has nothing left to prove in the game certainly deserves a shiny spot on this list.
Left-forward: Cristiano Ronaldo
Where there is Messi, there will be Ronaldo. The two mercenaries of the game divided and united the fans for years. Even with his absence from Europe, the Portuguese striker still holds the power to attract us with his one shot of brilliance.
And then there’s Pele. A football legend who showed us what it’s like to make football a global sport. Pele has won the World Cup three times for Brazil and rightfully deserves the center-forward position.
That was the list guys. There might be a couple of twitches here and there but otherwise, it is pretty standard.
