Barcelona’s 4-0 DEMOLITION Of Real Madrid Was “By Chance Accident” Claims Thibaut Courtois

April 18, 2022

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes Barcelona’s 4-0 El Clasico win over the Los Blancos last month was a ‘by chance accident’.

The El Clasico at the Bernabeu did not go according to plans for Real Madrid. Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid at their home ground thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace and goals from Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres.

This was no doubt, a big result for the Catalan giants and a moment of disappointment for Real Madrid. However, despite conceding 4 goals that night, Thibaut Courtois believes Barcelona’s win was merely a ‘fluke’. He insists their recent results show the loss against their arch rivals was just down to a ‘very bad night’.

“I’m disappointed, of course, but I think it was clear that there is a before and after that defeat. If you look at our results and our performance it was a fluke.”

He is not wrong at all. Real Madrid have turned it around after their defeat at the Clasico. The Los Blancos have won two La Liga games and beaten Chelsea to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Speaking on Real Madrid’s comeback over PSG, when they came from two goals behind to win thanks to a Karim Benzema hat-trick, the Belgian goalkeeper said: “It was a wonderful dream. I am convinced that very few people in the whole world were betting on it after the first half. Everything was against us, but we did it. It was one of those many nights when I feel the luckiest to play at Real Madrid.”
