Bernardo Silva, who is rumoured to be a transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has received high praise from Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
According to PSGTalk, Les Parisiens are interested in signing the playmaker from Manchester City to replace Lionel Messi. At the end of the season, the legendary player from Argentina may become a free agent.
Bernardo Silva is, however, also a target for Barcelona. Laporta was recently questioned about the possibility of signing a player similar to the Portugal international.
In the interview, the Barcelona president said:
“We will be in a position to make transfers if the league approves our feasibility plan, which we will know shortly and I hope the president of La Liga sees the effort we are making.”
He had nothing but praises for the Portuguese star:
“In 2015 I had him signed, I was in Portugal with his agent, his father. He is a great player, from City, in this sense, nothing to say.”
In 302 games for Manchester City throughout the course of his career, Bernardo Silva, a four-time Premier League champion, has scored 53 goals and sent out 58 assists. His deal with the Sky Blues expires in June 2025, and it’s been said that the club has set a €80 million price on him.
Barcelona’s financial issues may be complicated by the value given how well-known they are at this time. They are also making a lot of effort to generate money to support a possible Messi comeback this summer. In this case, PSG might be at a financial advantage.
They may lose both Messi and Neymar Jr. this summer, which would significantly reduce their payroll costs.
