During the euphoria for winning the La Liga, Lionel Messi was serenaded by Barcelona supporters amid rumours of a possible return to the Spotify Camp Nou this summer.

With four games remaining, the Catalan giants defeated Espanyol 4-2 on May 14 to win the league. After the game, Barcelona supporters gathered at the Canaletes fountain at the top of Las Ramblas, as they typically do to celebrate victories.

Along with supporting the players on the pitch, supporters could be heard chanting “Messi, Messi” to express their unanimity in support of his return to Barcelona. According to El Nacional, Lionel Messi’s name was on the lips of supporters along many of the parade routes.

According to ESPN, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is anticipated to depart Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent this summer. A return to Barcelona has received a lot of attention, while Inter Miami of the MLS and an unknown Saudi Arabian club have also made offers.

The Catalan giants would compete with any club to sign a player, according to president Joan Laporta, who reassured supporters. Lionel Messi’s return, however, would be dependent on La Liga’s reaction to Barcelona’s viability plan as the team works to balance its finances and pay off its debts.
