Barcelona are losing their grip on Lionel Messi as wealthy clubs jump into the race

FC Barcelona is not the favorite anymore to sign club legend Lionel Messi despite the heavy rumors. Saudi clubs have jumped into the conversation having more potential to get Messi in the summer.

Paris Saint Germain’s manager announced yesterday that the Argentine will leave the club after their fixture against Clermont. Even though the news of his departure was reported way before the World Cup even started, the confirmation has put things in motion.

Football clubs across the world are giving their best shot to persuade Lionel Messi. David Beckham has been publicly campaigning to get the 35-year-old to his MLS club Inter Miami, Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal has offered 500 million which is twice the amount that Ronaldo gets with Al Nassr, Premier League clubs have shown interest, and the return to Barcelona is also there.

But the reality might turn out quite differently. Betting platform Betfair has recently put out the odds for Lionel Messi’s potential destination.

The platform surprisingly chose Saudi Arabia as the favorite to sign the Argentine. According to the Betfair ‘Any’ Saudi Pro League club stands a better chance, with the odds of 8/11.

On second, they named Messi’s former club Barcelona with odds 11/8.

The odds for the much-rumored Barcelona and Inter Miami partnership that would see Lionel Messi featured in both MLS and Laliga stand 5/1.

Betfair even included Premier League club Manchester City into the conversation with odds 12/1.

Direct reports from sources close to Lionel Messi will start to surface when his contract expires with PSG on June 30th.
